Oil and gas leases to drill and frack near the Chaco Canyon National Historic Park have been cancelled, the BLM announced today. The agency explained that the 2,122 acres under consideration for sale in October, 2016, were pulled because the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) evaluation and tribal consultation process have not been completed. There has been strong opposition to fracking near the park which is also a World Heritage Site from various public groups and individuals worldwide.
